Ra Optics Clyde Sunset Lens
is a precision-engineered evening eyewear designed for use from sunset to sleep, filtering the 380 to 540 nm wavelength range that sends a daytime signal to the brain, blocking 100% of blue light and most green light to support natural melatonin production, healthy sleep onset, and the full cycle of cellular repair and regeneration the body is designed to perform every night.
Your body was built to follow the sun. When natural light fades at sunset, the pineal gland reads that shift in the light spectrum as a signal to release melatonin, the hormone that initiates sleep, slows metabolism, and opens the window for the deep cellular repair your immune system, hormones, brain, and skin depend on. Modern artificial lighting, including LED bulbs, televisions, phones, and computer screens, emits the same blue and green wavelengths as midday sunlight. Your brain cannot distinguish between them. Every hour you spend under artificial light after sunset is an hour your body receives a signal that it is still noon, suppressing melatonin, delaying sleep onset, shortening your deep sleep window, and compressing the nightly repair processes that determine how you feel, look, and perform the next day.
Sunset Lenses are designed to simulate natural post-sunset lighting by significantly reducing brightness, blocking 77% of total light while allowing 23% to pass through for comfortable evening visibility. The lens exhibits a complete cut-off around 500 nm with less than 5% transmission until approximately 550 nm, eliminating every wavelength the brain uses as a wakefulness signal. Beyond 550 nm, transmission rises steeply to near-full levels around 600 nm, preserving enough ambient visibility for comfortable evening activities. The result is an evening environment that mimics what the human nervous system evolved to experience after dark, without requiring you to sit in complete darkness.
The Clyde frame is named after Clyde Edgar Keeler, a medical geneticist whose foundational work on the genetics of vision and retinitis pigmentosa shaped the modern understanding of how light interacts with the eye. Round shape with a contemporary transparent frame and clear saddle bridge. Medium fit. Crafted from Italian Mazuchelli Acetate and German-engineered steel. Designed for both men and women.
Sunset Lenses pair with Daylight Lenses for complete 24-hour circadian light management. See the Clyde Daylight listing in the SOLUDE Wellness Tools collection.

Put on your Clyde Sunset glasses at or after sunset, or at least two to three hours before your intended sleep time. Wear them any time you are exposed to artificial light in the evening, including screens, LED and fluorescent lighting, television, and overhead household lights. Keep them on until you are ready to sleep. Remove in complete darkness or when lights are off.
Note: Sunset Lenses are not ideal for color-sensitive tasks, nighttime driving, or situations where full color clarity is required. For these situations the Clyde Daylight Lens is the appropriate choice.
